The attention of the Controller and Accountant General has been drawn to information about persons purporting to be Controller and Accountant General’s staff who demand money from heads of Management Units and employees in order to assist them to do the validation of employees’ salaries through the E-SPV system. These individuals usually threaten Heads of Management Units and employees that, failure to pay the money into a given MTN mobile money transfer number, will result in the employees’ salaries being blocked for that particular month.
The Department wishes to inform Heads of Management Units, employees and the General Public that the validation process is well structured and handled only by officers who have been trained and defined on the systems as validators. Only officers who have access to the system and have the required authorization at the various Management Units can do the validation.
The Department wishes to inform heads of management units and employees that the validation through the E-SPV system or any other validation of payroll data does not require payment by employees and therefore employees should not entertain any persons who demand money before the validation.
The Department further urges Heads of Department and Management Units heads to report any cases of fraud to the nearest police station or to the CAG on telephone number 0302 0678801.
Employees can also use the feedback mechanism on the E-Payslip platform to report any such cases to the Controller and Accountant General.
