The Government of Japan has permitted the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, MoFA of Ghana to utilize part of its Counter-Value Fund to establish two Agricultural Mechanisation Training Centres at Adidome and Wenchi Farm Institutes.

The two centres are fully stocked with a range of agricultural machinery as training materials to train tractor and other agricultural machinery /equipment operators on proper handling and maintenance of agricultural machinery.

The project seeks to build appropriate human and institutional resource capacities to effectively manage agricultural machinery/equipment for enhanced agriculture productivity in Ghana.

Training Areas shall include the following:

1.      Land Preparation

Using Tractor, Power Tiller, Plough, Harrow and Rotovator

2.      Seeding

Using Tractor and Mechanical Planter

3.      Crop Management

Using Tractor and Boom Sprayer

4.      Harvesting

Using Tractor, Combine Harvester and Reaper

 

5.      Primary Processing

Using Tractor, Multicrop Thresher and Maize Sheller

 

Note that, the training, lodging and feeding are all free.

The first training is scheduled to kick off in November and December, 2016 at Wenchi for the Northern sector and Adidome for the Southern sector.

Interested tractor operators and other agricultural machinery operators requested to apply to attend through the regional and district MoFA departments to: The Director, Agricultural Engineering Services Directorate, MoFA, Accra.
